UThe last time I changed salt brands was from IO to TM and lost both fish and corals. It may have been the salt but could it have been the salt mix change process?

I follow routines. I test weekly and perform 10% water changes weekly. Parameters have remained stable over the past several months since I switched back to IO following the TM salt recall.
Is there a recommended process for changing out an old salt brand and replacing with a new salt brand?

In my opinion, all changes should be done slowly. For salt switchover, you need to match salinity. The other parameters will come in line with the new salt over time. A 10% weekly water change will be just fine.

Fish and Coral impact should be negligible as long as the switch is done slowly over time.

If salinity and temp are matched and you doing 10-20% at a time there coral and fish should never know the difference.

Easiest to find a salt that mixes up close to what you run now unless you are wanting to shift your target numbers. As others have mentioned start with small changes and gradually increase to desired WC amount.

Also this may seem overkill to mention but read the instructions on the mix. I have noticed that the required mixing time and " shelf life" once mixed can vary.

I've used just about ever salt on the market over the years.

Just mix it up, match tanks parameters, dump in. Never did anything special.
Thanx, appreciate your help
