I want to re-scape my tank. I think this is the right time because I just got 9 new corals (shout out to Adam @Battlecorals ...great corals...I'll update my build thread soon). Anyway, my question is how to handle the other ~20 corals I have in my tank. Should I remove them from the rocks before I re-scape? What are your experiences?

Here is a FTS:

I had to redo mine a couple years ago. I removed all the corals I could and stored them in a seperate tank while I rearranged everything. The corals I couldn't remove safely, I just left them on the rock and incorporated them in to the new aquascape. There were a couple larger pieces I ended up breaking the rock up a little using a chisel.

That's my experience anyway...others will vary.

Did you wind up with any corals facing towards the back of the tank?

I don't have a back of the tank...lol. Everything is visable with a peninsula. Both a blessing and a curse. :)

But to answer your question, the one rock that wasn't moved was the one closest to the short end and against the wall. So there were no corals on the back side of that rock to begin with. It wasn't moved due to its size and because it wasn't part of the reason I tore the tank apart - rogue RBTA splits.
