Hey everyone. I have had a long, ridiculous day today. I found a vermitide snail on my hammer, and dropped the hammer and damaged it. Then, while siphoning my tank, I noticed an extreme dead spot in my tank. So I decided to rescape it. Now I hate the scape and I have no idea what to do. My fish are so stressed out, so i cant change it again. Am i able to add new live rock and replace the old stuff? Or should i just try to rescape again in a couple days? I'm so bummed today. I should have left the scape the way it was and worked a way to eliminate the dead spot. My fiance got fired because her cell phone store got robbed yesterday. She was a manager there and they fired her over it. Just such a let down of a day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about all that. Adding new live rock should be fine, but I wouldn’t completely replace what’s in there all at once. The fish and corals are hardy, they will be fine, don’t stress out too much :)

Thanks friend. I'm trying not too. I got it to where I like it enough now. Just made very small moves around the tank and got it to where I'm ok with it. I just shouldve made accommodations for the dead spots and worked around them. I loved the scape the way it was. It's just been a rough rough day for me. My uncle matt passed away early last week. I use my hobby to relieve stress, and I just created so much more for myself. I'm waiting on over 1000 dollars of equipment in the mail for the tank. I just want to make it sustainable but also like it. It looks ok now for the most part.

Yup, do absolutely nothing but normal maintenance, normal feed. Scape is scape. Let things “normalize” in your setup and life.

You have rock already, live rock can be risky in terms of pests.

Dry rock, wash it, dry it, and add/modify to your current scape.

But not now. If fish are safe, no rush.....

Giving up?
Your not allowed.
Your fishy friends are counting on you.

Good luck

Dry rock, wash it, dry it, and redo your scape.
Thanks man.
