I want to switch types of salt. I have been using the Instant Ocean (no complaints) and would like to switch to the Marin Pro I need to add about 60 additional gallons of saltwater when I move over to my new tank, and would like to know if I can/should just add 100% Marin Pro or should I keep it Instant Ocean and just slowly switch tank over to Marin Pro via my 15g weekly water changes.

Thanks

What’s your alk at in your tank.

I did exactly the opposite. I went from tropic Marin to IO. Marin is a great salt, just didn’t need what it provides for my tank.

If you have sps or other sensitive coral I would go slower. Depending on if 60 gallons is half the tank or just a 1/10 it is going to shift your numbers.

go slow to avoid spiking any of your parameters to quick. It will take a while to cycle all the IO out anyway so don’t rush.

I think that puts it close to 8.5

I will have my local shop test again Wednesday
Oh perfect. I’d just work it in during water changes. Tm pro mixes out to 8.6
