Chasing Ph

Thanks, that helps understand better. It’s simply dosing and seeing how your tank reacts to it. I will be doing Kalk with a drip system not through ATO though. Also do any of you know if a CO2 scrubber is achievable without a protein skimmer?
You can literally see the day I installed my scrubber and how great it’s working. My scrubber set up is very advanced from most so not sure if you will see same results but either way ph will raise from it.

Also like to note because I was reading more in this thread about you dosing but at ph of 7.8 I only need to dose 35ml of soda ash a day to keep 7.7alk but over night at 8.3 ph my alk consumption went from 35ml to 90 ml a day literally over night.

For all this talk about don’t chase ph numbers I can see the difference in my corals over night. Nothing else that I have done has made this much of a difference in my coral heath

My pvc line out side, and second pic of Line inside with 1/2 John guest line from skimmer to it. Scrubber is not hooked up yet but when I get home I can send pics if you like

Thats not unusual for nighttime on a reef. Pretty much all reefs I can find records for go down to 7.8-7.9 at night. Some go down lower than 7.7.

When was the last time you calibrated your probe with two standard solutions (pH 7 and pH 10)? Probes drift over time and need recalibration.

At only 0.1 units lower than expected for a nighttime pH I wouldnt do anything to change it...
I am using SENEYE reef monitor. I get that ph will go down but I would like for it not too. Also my ph only maxes out at 7.9 in the day

I use 2 of the extra large dual brs scrubbers
Ooofff that set you back. This hobby is for real expensive. :)
Why two? Do you use both at the same time?

And I use 4 electronic ball valves with a 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe thru side of wall to the outside
How are you using these?

I thought you had it set up? Did you take it down for maintenance?

I would love to see pics if you are willing to post them. I think your solution is super kewl. :)

I had low pH problems in my nano--7.6-7.8 (lots of CO2 in my apartment--around 1200pppm). I did three things to fix it:

1) basic CO2 scrubber, which raised to 7.7-7.9
2) Raised alkalinity from 8.5 to 10dKH, which boosted pH to 8.2
3) Started using kalk in my ATO, which brought me to 8.3 consistently

Did you have the scrubber connected to a protein skimmer? I don’t have one, I am thinking of getting one. Do you think such a small skimmer can handle the CO2 scrubber?

Yes; it's connected to the Venturi line going into the skimmer. I had a smaller skimmer that came with my Fluval, before I swapped to my Red Sea NANO, and it was nearly as effective as my current larger skimmer. Even the smaller skimmers do so much more gas exchange than regular surface turbulence, so if you connect a CO2 scrubber to it, it will be better than nothing at all.

Yes scrubber is hooked up. As you can see in the apex picture I posted was only installed like less then week ago so I have not taken any pictures of it yet. The other pics are from before the install with just skimmer line plumber outside. Will be home from work soon and post few more pics after I take them.

Thank you, I might just get a skimmer and a CO2 scrubber and just stick to regular 2 part dosing. Any suggestion on a skimmer for a 10g Nuvo?
