Chateo growing on rock?

Hello! I added chateo to my tank about a month ago and some stray strands have made their way into my tank. I always pull them out when I see them. Recently I noticed an algae growing on my rocks that looks exactly like chateo but I was under the impression that chateo didn't grow on rock. Anyone what this is and how I can get rid of it? It is attached to the rocks and kinda hard to remove from the base entirely.

From what I understand chateo doesn't have roots and can't attach to rock. I also recently added chateo and small pieces are making their way into my tank, not sure of the negative effects yet but I'm on the fence on keeping the chateo. But that does look like chateo.
