Cheap cooling option

This works so good guys. 30.00 inkbird controller with the cooling plug and a 29.00 fan from saltwateraquarium.com and my tank stays between 78-80 in the south with no AC running. This has been my saving grace!

Similar install here as well without the temp controller. I have mine plugged into the timer with my t5 so when those lights kick on it does as well. Easily a 2-3 degree drop compared to running without it. Maintains 78-79 even mid day.

Most of us have ATOs, so evaporation doesn’t matter much

That fan looks nice and they work well. May be possible to modify the overflow cap to fit it on there (Kind of like how the Hydra26 mounts)?

On a random related note, what are you using to cover the tank? Kind of looks like a curtain? I have been wanting to do something like that for the afternoon sun.

Just some black out curtains with hooks on the top to hook over the top of the tank. Back in the day( early 2000’s) I was told it was worth while the way the sun comes in my house in the morning plus my lights don’t come on till noon so just trying to give everything more dark time

It does if it greatly contributes to high humidity in the area the tank is displayed.

Ahh the nice thing about being in the south in the summer the humidity . I am surprised I have to top off at all the air is so saturated. Let’s see run the AC all month and enjoy 69 degree temps or save about 200 on electricity bill a month and get corals...
