Cheap led refugium light!

Hey guys, I wanted to show everybody my 30W led 6500k floodlight I got off of eBay. I am getting cheato algae from a friend tomorrow and I will keep giving updates on the lights performance. In total this light cost me around 25$ including the plug to connect to the wire and the L bracket used to mount it. Visually it is very bright and the spectrum looks great to the naked eye. It gets a little warm to the touch but nothing as hot as halides or any fluorescent lighting.

I will post pics with the cheato tomorrow and then compare it a couple days later to see how fast it is growing.

kinda off subject but are u running just sand and cheato in the fuge ?

Yes and one little piece of rubble rock that probably doesn't do anything

I've had a 10w version also off eBay for about a year. Works and grows great!

I have held off on getting the cheato until Monday due to a Dinoflagellate outbreak because I am doing a 3 day blackout

Which light did you go with, the 30 or 50 watt? I've heard too much light will kill chaeto...
