Just wanted to know if a cheapo light like this could grow anything at all other than macro algaes.

You could grow softies and macro with that, it also depends how deep your tank is. If you're on a strict budget, check out NooPsyche. Those are the best bang for buck for a mixed reef.

if you only care about xenia and GSP, and you're sure you won't want LPS or other more demanding corals in the near future, you can light the tank with just about anything and you'll be fine. If you think you'll want more demanding corals sooner than later, just buy a better light up front to avoid spending twice.

Could that light like that grow any anemones?
