So I found my light in my tank yesterday and can’t get a new one till Thursday. Anyone know a good light under $80 that will be good for my corals mine was a hipargero

corals can wait until Thurs.....how close to a window is the tank? an unshaded window provides enough ambientlight to keep corals "awake" during lighting cycle.

but if you're that anxious.... go to a LFS. They most likely have a light you can borrow or rent

also post in the local forums and on crags list/facebook someone might have what you need to get by until you get new lights.

on a side note maybe fix how they feel in to the water so your new lights don't do the same.

Not a fan of black boxes but it will get you by until you can get a better light in the near future.

Because this is the same light I had on my tank that just got messed up. I kinda like the black box

Do you think the black box would be a better choice
Would the backbox burn a lot of power

I use two viparspectras above my 40b. They work great. The only gripe i have about mine is that certain corals dont have that radioactive pop that the higher priced lights give. I honestly think this is because of the lack of different color channels on my lights something i am going to remedy shortly.

I will say this if i was at a point where i had to buy new lights and money was not an issue i would get some hydra 52’s or some radion pro’s. Specifically for the pop they cause in corals. But black boxes work that is proven at this point and they work well.

spend the extra $$$ and get one with a programmable timer built in. that way you can ramp up and ramp down light cycles automatically

manual dials are fish poop....but for $65, a decent entry level light for most corals. for LPS, you'll hardly push the white channel

Honestly I have no clue I just saw it was under your budget. I’ve never used a black box, all my lighting is Kessil, AI, and ATI T5’s
