What in the world happened to that pump?

Thats three different pumps. I think they are using uncoated neodymium magnets which are highly corrosive. But I don't rally know. The corrosion starts and then expands. Even the impeller is corrosive. Hopefully we can here from EchoTech?

How old are these? I have wet sides 5+ years old that look nothing like these.

I have a old mp20 that's still all original. No problems with any of ecotech's products here.

I had a similar issue with a couple of the ES wet sides. The corrosion elevated the tin levels in my tank to about 80x the recommended amount.

I am still a huge fan of their products and their customer service is great. No matter who makes a product, there will always be some items that don’t meet expectations.

We need to test for neodymium, the magnet material.

I cleaned my mp40 in some white distilled vinager that my have contributed to my wet side mag doing the same thing as yours...possible cause...not really sure..

This is common on their QD wet side units. They recently replaced 3 of my QD wet side for they all broke and corroded. All 3 are out of warranty but they still sent me replacement for free with $1 as shipping charge. They call it their SEP program. You have to return to them the damaged wet side and they will send you replacement ones. I did not go off on them for I have experienced their customer service number of times and every single one has been resolved positively. It seems like the quality of magnets being used for the qd drives are not as good of a quality compared to their previous models. Other than that I still love ecotech products

I've heard there customer service is great but IMO this doesn't matter to me in this case. I've got a marineland cheapo power head still going after 5 years with no rust. For what they charge this should be a problem that doesn't happen. You'd figure a company like ecotech would fix this problem instead of handing out replacements that will do the same thing. This is dissapointing as I always wanted an MP power head.

I've had my mp10 power heads for over a year now with no issues. I should check them tonight..
