Cheap tank hacks

Whilst we are all off not earning much money I was wondering if anybody had any cheap hacks for their tanks weather it's food, setups, dosing, anything
What got my started on this was my post about using dettol instead of coral dip its only about £2 a bottle in UK and seems to be something used quiete a lot after a Google. so is there any other hacks our pockets can all benefit from.

For those of you that use a premade alkalinity supplement:

Plain jane arm and hammer baking soda can be used. Just google Randy's DIY 2 part.

Just an FYI, @Bulk Reef Supply's 2 part mix is based off @Randy Holmes-Farley DIY 2 part.

For those dosing Nopox, Vinegar and cheap vodka can be substituted.

While I haven't carbon dosed in years, it works just as well. I just cannot for the life of me remember what the ratio of each was.

Pretty sure you can google DIY NoPox

Found it right from @Randy Holmes-Farley !

This is the rough recipe:

"Mix one part vinegar to one half part vodka and one half part water. If you want to get even closer, add a little more vodka and a little less water."

Does a plywood sump tank count?

I built this tank for about $350. I measures 72” long x 21” wide x 26” tall (175 gallons).

There’s more info on my built thread, although I didn’t go into much detail on gluing and screwing the thing together.

I would totally build my own plywood sump again.
