Cheapest Way to ship a big box overnight

I'm preparing to ship alot of coral when I head back home for the holidays. I'm not quite sure how much but it will be at least a 20g frag tank jam packed w/ coral. I'm shipping overnight so I feel comfortable putting alot of items in one container such as the zoas and palys.

I don't have much experience shipping big packages overnight. Can anyone offer me any insight as to the best way to do this? Should I break it up into 2 or 3 packages or just get one box and line it w/ styrofoam and go from there?

Fedex does a great job. I would bag each group of corals to prevent any agression. Also don't know where you are shipping from but it is getting colder so you might want to add some heat packs.

yeah i think i'm going with fedex but a rough estimate of box size and weight is giving me a quote of 200 some odd dollars.

I just shipped 10 frags tonight from Washington state to Connecticut and it was $86

Also make sure you sign up for a FedEx account. You will get a nice discount on overnight shipping if you have an account and print your label at home

If you have a 20g worth of corals that you are trying to ship then $200 sounds pretty reasonable for overnight. Typically when I ship 2-3 frags in a 7x7x7 box that weighs about 2.5 lbs it costs between 45-55 with FedEx.

What I wouldn't do is put a lot of zoas in one bag. You are begging for trouble that way. Even though it's overnight they get banged around. With the stress of being in a bag and rubbing against each other they are going irritate each other. I'd take the time to individually bag them.

As for the zoas, I have a sealable container and I was going to glue the frag plugs to the bottom so that they don't move around. Is that not the best idea?

I would still bag them separate. There is always that chance that they could come loose and smash against another frag

bag individual and use just enough water to cover the corals. double bag if you think theyll rip through. id use heat packs and newspaper to try to keep them from moving too much and freezing.

Use an airline if your destination is close....50lbs is generally about $60.00 and gets there the same day...just have someone pick it up for you...or if you are flying try sending it the same time you are flying....just go to the airlines cargo website.

Thats all? i paid 60$ overnight USPS was 5pounds box was like 16"x12x10 Try not to put so much water in your bags. Or shipp them all in one bag if there not high end zoas. or w/e it is.

i Ship my stuff in the 25cent mechine thingys and sometimes when someone orders a big load i do it all in one bag, Nothing has ever gone wrong or opened or died on me yet.

ive done this also i glued them down to a big circle tupperware container top, Worked perfect but i wouldnt do it again. Risky stuff.

I've never shipped anything through an airline. Would they even take a package with livestock? It would be nice to ship it in cargo on the same flight I'll be on but I don't know how this works
