So I got some chaeto for the fuge about 2-3 weeks ago now. It has without a doubt grown to at least 5x the size but the ends are always white. It’s in the middle chamber of a 30g sump and 75g DT plenty of nutrients in the tank. I’m wondering if my light is frying it- 150w CREE LED grow UFO

Thoughts?

It turns white when it's dying. But if it's growing good I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe your not harvesting enough?
Haven’t harvested yet but I’m thinking lack of movement could be an issue too

If it's growing that well, I'd rule out too much light. Chaeto loves flow. That could be it. When I added a small power head to my fuge, my macro went from dying to flourishing. I also added more light at the same time, but it sounds like you have plenty. I also flip the macro every few days to hopefully provide more even coverage.

Mine turns white when it is above the water.
I don't worry about it, as long as its growing.

I’ve been manually flipping it every morning but I’ll be looking around for a small power head tonight to see if I can get it moving on it’s own!

I don't see a reason to provide excessive flow or even flipping more often than once per week.
It is a plant. As long as it has a supply of nutrients, which can be provided in almost stagnant water, all it needs is light to grow.
The chaeto in my fuge is a 3 inch mat on top of live rock. Whatever is exposed to light will grow, whether it was just flipped or not.

But if any dies from being out of the water/bleached it releases whatever nutrients it has absorbed into the water right? I want it all green and healthy
(For the record I’ve never had a green thumb LOL)

No it turns white, it doesn't rot.
