Cheato not growing and Bubbles in the Refugium

Two questions.

1. Bought Cheato bundle from an LFS that had it in bundles in plant canisters. Had it in the refugium for a a month with no growth with 5000K spiral light from HomeDepot and a midnight - 8 am schedule. After a month with no growth I switched to a 24/7 schedule. Although I've been fighting high Phosphate with Lathanum Chloride it looks like the CHeato is rotting. Any reason to explain this?

2. I have one of the returns going into the regium and it's creating alot of bubbles. Not making it to the display tank but is this bad?

What is the phosphate level?

No you know the nitrate level?

Sometimes these sorts of macroalgae may not be in good shape to begin with.

Assuming there was adequate nutrients, I wouldn't expect it to die, even if it wasn't growing rapidly.

Ever add iron?

OK 1. Even though its an algea its a plant. Try a 65k ( yellow or day light ) bulb, but check you Nitrates if they are very low or zero then it has no food to grow so don't worry. If you have high nitrates then it has gone Asexual and you need to light it 24/7 until it stops.

2. No its not bad. Lots of people have air stones in their sump to raise their PH.
