That really isn't a big deal. Pittsburgher's are a different breed. I've been giving away RBTA's for a couple years, (dang infestations!!!). We take care of each other.

Would you recommend putting a layer of sand in the bottom of the refuge with the Cheato??

I have a layer of sand and some rubble for pods and snails to live in.

I'm a Miracle Mud fan. 2 or 3 short dividers in the refugium chamber so in future years it can be siphoned out and replaced in rotation.
But that's just me......... and a few others.
