I just got my doser online today. I am starting with Red Sea foundation a, b & NoPox on my three thre dosing pumps.

My current numbers are:
dkh: 10.4
Ca: 420
Mg: 1440 (will hand dose - drops super slow)
Ph: 8.2
Nitrates: .25

Have a calculated 680 liters of water in my system.

Alkalinity: using liquid until LFS gets powder.
My alk drops .5 dkh per day. So I am dosing 34ml/day (1ml raises dkh .1 per 100l)

Math:
5ml (solution needed to raise 100l .5 dkh) x 6.8 (system volume) = 34ml

Calcium: using powder. Mixed half batch of stock solution- 500g in 900ml of rodi
My ca drops 10 ppm per day. I am dosing 34ml of thus also (1ml per 100 litres raises Calcium by 2ppm)

Math:
5ml (10ppm drop/2ppm) x 6.8 (system volume) = 34 ml

NoPox: simpler... Nitrates at .25 - 1ml (1ml per 100 l per chart on bottle) x 6.8 (system volume) = about 7

I want to try and get a handle on dosing to prepare for SPS corals. Could someone let me know if my math makes sense? I may try to adjust the alk/ca up a bit but thought I should have some wiggle room... Don't want to accidentally go way high while I am figuring this out.

Everything looks good but when I was carbon dosing I kept my alk. at 7.5. Redsea recommends keeping It lower while carbon dosing.

Thanks for double checking. I'll look at lowering my alk.

beaselbob, I will need to cut back on the costs and have been reading about "recipes" for more economical solutions. For now, it is enough that I am trying to dose and felt it was a little safer to start of with pre made chemicals... but I won't be able to keep up with the cost of these for very long. Do you "bake" your baking soda?
