Check my PAR readings please

Hi All,

I just received my PAR meter rental from BRS and completed my readings. Can you look it over and see if I am on the right track for my goals before I send it back?

Goal:
LPS and softie corals

Equipment:
Red Sea Reefer 350 with two AI Hydra26 HD
4 months old
Photo period 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with 2 hour ramp up and ramp down
Hydra26 setting: UV 26%, V 70%, RY 48%, B 48%, G 3%, DR 3%, CW 12% (replicating coral AB+)

For most lps and softies I think you have a good start. Personally I've found my LPS like between the 150-250 par range and my softies / leathers like between 95 - 175 par. While you have the meter I would play with your settings and write down those numbers and setting numbers to so you have a log and know where to slowly ramp up to. This way you know where to place corals for future reference no matter what you change your setting to as well as if you choose to add SPS one day.
In my 240 I have the top 8" between 270 & 350 par ( where 99% of my SPS are ), the center 8" between 175 and 270 par ( where all my LPS and Anemones are ) and 95 to 175 the bottom 8" ( leathers, Rock Flower nems, Deep water low light SPS)

Looks good. Watch the corals.

If you still have the par meter , see if you can find where you get 100 par average on the sand and write down the settings. That way you have a plan b. Don’t sweat the upper numbers

The corals you have and want are usually (usually) generalist zoo ox and like the 85-200 par range.
Easy sps are too. (Hint Hint lfs trip)


And just for fun.

Note the number of softies in there.
I grew Xenia and paly at 700 par and frogspawn and toad stools at well Over 300.

Thanks for the responses. I still have the meter and it does make sense that I should play with different intensities and track the changes. Slowly getting the intensity to 100 at the sand would probably be a good idea too.
