My dendrophyllia is growing new heads in a circular fashion around the base of the polyp. Truly odd. Thought I’d share.

Wow, that is an odd growing pattern.
What are you feeding it?
I feed LRS food to the fish once a day, they make sure to grab a piece each time. I don’t really feed anything else. Rarely feed reef roids.

that is how they bud new heads. Nothing unusual about it but certainly cool and a happy dendro. Look at this dendro. The big head on the left is doing the same as yours although not near as many. The original colony this colony was fragged from I've had about 10 years and it grew from about 7 or 8 heads to well over 50 by the time I cut her up. Dendros are my favorite lps without a doubt. Nice to see others appreciating them and having success with them. Keep up the good work!

I fragged off a head maybe a couple of months ago. The area I made the cut already grew a new head in its place and the fragged piece is also budding. These things fetch huge prices in the states. I’m sure someone can make a lot of money fragging these off.

Looks great man. That's a nice frag. Yea they are worth a good bit but most people that have never kept them are scared to try. I've sold several colonies off the original mother and ended up selling for about half of what they're really worth. If only people knew how easy they are to keep and darn near bulletproof I think they'd be more popular.

I completely agree about them. They eat every time I feed frozen food to the fish. Sometimes I’ll target feed them but I’ve never had trouble keeping them.

Just got my first one today. Has one head that is good one head looks like it receded at one point but it’s hanging in there. On the good head I see one very very tiny head “budding”. Fed it some coral frenzy pellets tonight as it didn’t open till after lights out. How do U guys recommend training it to be open during light hours? Got it at a sale at a local shop today for 24 dollars per head but they didn’t charge me for the receded head so 24 bucks. Good find for sure. Seen them for 80 a head at another local shop.

Mine seem to be open 75% of the time the lights are on. They’ll close up every now and then. Since I primarily feed during the day and early evening, they tend to be open during that time. But also after lights out as well. I don’t think they know if it is night or day as they are non-photosynthetic. I try to target feed them frozen food with a turkey baster every now and then. Take the baster and gently rub it against the tentacles. They immediately stick to the baster. Squirt food in and they’ll readily take it in.

They're not like sun corals in they need to be trained to open. I've found once they settle in they will stay open on their own most of the time day and night. I also rarely ever target feed mine. They eat when the fish eat and catch more then enough to stay happy and grow. For a nps they really are a very easy coral to keep. Show us some pics of your new baby!

Not open this morning hoping it’ll just take time to adjust. And not sure if that is a baby or not on the side might be a feather duster?

Could that be an aptasia? It’s actaully on the hard skeleton of the Denton? Not on the fleshy part
