Bought some live rock and fish at a steal of a deal, was told the fins were a bit nipped at......poor guy. I feel if he has made it this far he will pull through. LF some advice on the most rapid method for fin health and repair. Currently feeding Nori, Bok Choy and a mixed diet of frozen foods. He is eating like a horse so hopefully a quick recovery.

I'd look at whatever helps against infection and parasites. I think garlic is something that aids in that. Did the store tell you why the fins got that way? Other than the aggression point you made.

This was actually a private sale and once I arrived it seemed the individual was not actually a hobbyist but trying to make money. Unfortunately, Im purely going off of information from someone I dont know. Ill be heading to my LFS today to pickup some more medication.

My buddy ended up giving me one of his firefish because he had a pair that randomly started fighting. He left it in his refugium for a week and then I fed it frozen foods enriched with VitaMarine-C from Brightwell Aquatics. It's dorsal fin was just a stump, now months later its grown back and healthy as can be. Is it's belly sunken in as well? I'd just make sure you can get it eating and monitor it as time goes as well.

Yeah his belly is a little indented but he is eating and not shy about it either. I tried to get a front view of him but wont stop swimming around lol. He is EXTREMELY slender.

Good on you for saving the fish :)

Watch for the fish's poo. Look for white and stringy. That along with a sunken in or pinched stomach and the fish eating like crazy, can be symptoms of internal parasites.

Will do, thanks!
