During a water change today I stripped my jecod 5000 return pump and noticed rust from the screws had stained around the pump. It most likely was the cause of my sps RTN. I swapped it out for my eheim return pump, the rest of the pump was ok, you could most likely replace the bolts with nylon bolts as a preventative measure

Unfortunately it seems to be a common issue with a lot of pumps. Even the more expensive ones. Don't the vortech wavemakers have a similar issue? I wish we would see more pumps that use only non-corrosive materials for stuff that gets wet..
