currently in my reef tank i am battling cyano bacteria on my rocks and sand. in the tank i have lps corals and a bta. i was wondering if chemi-clean is anemone safe.

From personal experience I would say yes. I have four rainbow BTAs and an acid rain BTA. I just used Chemiclean when I had a Cobalt Neotherm heater crack and the water smelled like burnt rubber. They are doing very well after a week using it.

EDIT: I used the Chemiclean that came in a mesh bag like Chemipure Elite. Just noticed your title mentioned Chemiclean Liquid. Not sure what that is.

I have used chemiclean successfully several times with a tank full of BTAs.

I agree. I have a bta and some zoas and I have used chemiclean elite for around a year and it keeps my cyano under control and it doesn’t seem to bother my inverts/corals.

You both are referring to Chemi-PURE, which is the carbon mixture.

The OP is referring to ChemiClean, which is a cyanobacteria remover.

I've never used it but I think the thing you need to be conscious of his 02 levels dropping. I would assume it's nem safe as I have seen mark levenson swear by the stuff and he has a nem tank plumbed in with his DT which also has a very large sebae

I another not I recently rid my tank of cyano by dosing some bacterias weekly while getting my po4 and no3 more balanced.

Before adding this I would look at other threads just to get some idea of what could happen to your tank and if it is effective in the long run.

I have heard great things about chemi clean and I have heard horror stories about it too.

I'm not much of a betting man.

My .02

After a long battle with cyanobacteria, used chemaclean and it worked very well. Added air stone to sump and flipped skimmer cup over allowing it to help put o2 levels. I have lps, mushrooms, zoas, goniopora, hammer, frogspawn
