Is feeding okay during Chemiclean treatment in the 48h period and even shortly afterwards or do I need to wait 72h for example ?

Is my overflowing skimmer enough to aerate my tank in the sump ? Or do I need to use air stone

I just dosed 3 spoons of dosage
Tank is 54g total, I figured 30g dosage is a safe bet

Thanks for any advice , I’m asking as I’ve seen some odd answers across forums and just wanna clarify

I’ve used chemiclean in the past. I continued my regular feeding and I don’t have a skimmer and all went well for me. I don’t recall using an air stone. Maybe the water cascading into my return was good enough for gas exchange?

I’ve always thought the return box was good enough aeration but I might be wrong.

I’ll run the skimmer just incase, hopefully someone can confirm.

Did you run it for 48h?

I’ll continue regular feeding but I’ll just lower to be safe. After all I am using chemiclean to wipe out the cyano and fix the issues that might have caused it. I’m guessing when I stirred up my sand bed a bit from moving rocks it fueled it and maybe rinsing my food could help

Did you blow off or remove any cyano before hand ?

I can only assume that the aeration from the return was enough. I own a nano tank and don’t like my options at skimming plus…I don’t need one. I manage my nutrients with a reactor.

I try to blow off my rocks daily as a habit and especially so when cyano would break out. It’s helpful to manually remove all you can.

I’ve never rinsed my food. Gets thawed out in a small shot glass with a tiny bit of tank water then into the tank.

As for duration or time ran, I followed the instructions. Remove any carbon as it will suck up the med before it gets a chance to work.
