Chemi Clean Use

It hurts me to say that after 2.5 years of running what I consider to be a successful reef tank I have come down with spots of cyano I just cant beat back. I hate adding chemicals but its my last step before a total break down and restart. Just wanted some input from anyone who has done the treatment. As of now I took my GFO reactor offline, I added an airstone to the display, I am running my skimmer with no collection cup even though the back of the box says I can run it ( I found many said not to) and lastly I added a powerhead to help with surface agitation. Anything I am missing ? I am a planning on a 20% change in 2 days as directed.

I ran it for 48 hour with skimmer off cleaned it all up has not come back. When the skimmer comes back online it will freak out for a while. I ran carbon and did a 35% water change cleared it up quick.

Thanks for the reply. I figured running it without the cup would only help with gas exchange, and I can see what you mean by saying it will freak out because man o man is it bubbling.
