Chemi-pure Blue, 3 months!? Really?

I dropped some Chemi-pure in the sump but the directions says good for 3 months. I find that really hard to believe.
Anyone else using it and how long do you leave it in for?
I'm thinking 1 month MAYBE 6 weeks tops.

I've used Chemipure blue in the past, and changed it every 2 weeks. I liked it, it works quite well. But seeing as you can use good carbon, purigen, and a phosphate adsorption media to do the same thing for less I do that instead. That way you'll only need to change the carbon more often than the other two. If you're looking for convenience, use the Chemipure, but the other way is an option.

Not sure on the blue but i use the chemi pure elite and i change it every 3-4 momths. Ive seen other ppl post that they change it every 5-6 month w the occassional rinse in ro di water

I can see the other adsorption resins being used for longer but the carbon would be exhausted well before then. Just my thoughts, you may run your media however you'd like

If you are curious about the carbon, after 3 weeks (or whenever) you can take it out and in a small container add a drop of food coloring. If it disappears then the carbon is still good. You don't want to do that every time, but it can give you an indication how long carbon will last in your system.

I spoke with them at the show, they said some have it 1 month and some 3 months, ... depends on your bio load.. I would usually try to change it 4-5 weeks...

Just reviving this post for those interested. After 3 months of chemipure blue 5.6 oz bag in my 16g reef, I took it out and did the food colouring tip…..did not absorb at all so glad I’m changing…..think that’s why my tank has not been as clear and other parameter issues mb.
