I need a little help, if I use chemi pure, would I also need to use carbon filtered bags too? Or is that just over kill?

Chemi-pure is carbon and not exactly the highest quality from what I understand.

Second that - chemi pure is carbon, the elite has some gfo thrown in. It also is supposed to contain some 'de ionizing' resins, but from everything I've read that isn't going to help much in saltwater - they will be depleted almost immediately.

So, no need to use both. Chemi pure is simple to use and convenient, and if you have a small tank may be relatively cost effective. Otherwise I would suggest going with a high quality carbon that can be purchased more in bulk ..... I use rox 8 from BRS.

Ditto - nothing wrong with the carbon in Chemi Pure, and that the Elite is packaged with GFO is very handy. If you find that you are a heavy user, buying the larger sizes, or getting a reactor and using bulk ingdients may be worth the extra expense+bother. You could also try doing soething about the source of all the excess organics as an alternatiive. :-)
