I have a 30g reef tank and was wondering if it’d be beneficial to run Purigen as I currently don’t have the need to run a skimmer. If I were to run Purigen, when I feed my corals do I leave the filters off for a few minutes so they can soak up the food or should I leave them on as normal? Any insight would be great, thanks.

I stopped running protein skimmers 40 years ago. I don’t run activated carbon unless I get a bacteria bloom.

Not knowing anything about your system or your skill level, I ask you, why do you feel the need to run Purigen?

PS:
Purigen is a synthetic polymer resin that helps in reduction of nitrates. When you added bactetia in a bottle, you already added nitrification bacteria that double their population density every 20 minutes.

Carbon or GAC(granular activated carbon) removes toxins and tannins from the water.
