So the other day I was rearranging the tank for some new occupants. March 5th was fragniappe and I was expecting to come home with plenty of corals so I had to move my fungia plate and my brain coral. Said corals before incident:

The two needed to be swapped. I started by gently moving the brain to the right side of my tank just behind my plate. Then I immediately grabbed my plate with the same hand and moved him to the area my brain was prior. This opened up a larger surface area in a lower current area for some new corals.

Fragniappe didn't go as planned as I splurged on equipment for my 210g vs many coral frags. I ended up picking up 4 frags and an anemone and a pump for my 210.

Well this morning I wake up to the fungia and brain almost dead... :(

I immediately gave the two an iodine rinse aso I had no other alternative. And I did a 20% water change

Below are pics from today.

Not sure what happened but they took a beating. I doubt it's a full blown warfare between the two, the slime left on your hand after handling the first coral should have only effected the second. Hopefully they will recover.

Did the new nem go for a walk last night?? Maybe he's the culprit.

No, night one the nem was in a basket until he got acclimated well to the water then I slowly introduced flow smd he hasn't moved since *knock on wood*

I am having the same problem, lost alot of nice pieces so far.. no clue why.

I agree that only the second coral should be affected if anything was on your hand. Could it be the change in placement? Perhaps the new flow or light difference isn't too their liking?

Well I slid the brain after placing the plate. Just kind of nudged it about a half an inch.

The brain seems to be coming back slowly. The plate hasn't gotten worse so I'm hopeful

Just another update.

Don't mind my dirty water, just cleaned all the glass.

Brain appears to be very very puffy, you can see the damaged area now appears to have new flesh, just waiting for the green to full in.

The plate has grown back to the mouth and now it appears the mouth is beginning to reform.

So stoked to see the coral regenerate! Cannot believe how fast they have repaired themselves and hopefully by the end of the month I can hand feed my plate again!

So for those following, the past 7 days have been outstanding! My plate has come back in appearance on day 1, by day 3 I was able to hand feed him again! Today was day 2 of hand feeding (pictured with coral fenzy 1 mm pellets)

The brain has now limited signs of the interaction, and I now see the green coming back where it once was and the feeders are out in just about every square inch of it!:D:D
