I dosed Chemiclean about 5 days ago due to a cyano outbreak. It cleaned it up as advertised but I've seen a sizable drop in Calcium. I did a 25% water change after 48 hours but am still getting so many bubbles through the skimmer that I have the valve just dumping back into the sump.

I don't normally get large swings in Calcium.

Normal parameters
Temp 77.5
SG 1.026
PH 7.9
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphate .25
DKH 9
Calcium 420-440
Magnesium 1350

The Calcium has dropped to 380, I ran it twice just to be sure. I am starting to see better growth in my stoney corals but my calcium never swings like this and especially not in just a few days.

I've got 2 part from BRS but is the reading trust worthy or is the chemiclean skewing my numbers? I'm leaning towards another water change instead. I would love to hear from an expert.

Thanks in advance.

@Randy Holmes-Farley would be best to weigh in, however I don't think the 2 are related. If unsure getting a second opinion on a test result is the best advice. Run some carbon to finish off the chemiclean.

Alk is usually 8-9 and is reading 8 today. However it was very close to changing colors at 7 drops so I would suspect it's low 8 or upper 7 range.

I should add that I started feeding reef roids and amino acid in the last 10 days. I'm not sure if this is causing a boost in growth that is causing the calcium/alk drop. I just hate to make a big adjustment if it's the wrong thing to do. Is 60ppm a lot of drop in a week for a medium to low stocked LPS/SPS?

Additionally I always have 0 nitrate and .25 phosphate. Having the skimmer in recycling mode has raised these to 10 nitrate and 2 phosphate. I am actually happier with these numbers as long as they level out and don't keep rising. I could see this also having a kick start to Stony growths. Just need to know if this is a normal growth. Picture for stocking reference.

Thanks for the confirmation. Maybe the stonies are just starting to take off better.
