So Chem 8 clean is solution for red slime then?
It worked but it was a huge hassle trying to get it out of the tank...tons of water changes and my conch snail hasn't came out since the dosing. [emoji222] [emoji30]

It is made for it and works well. Another one is tetracyclin but it will destroy both good and bad bacteria. If you use that you will need to seed the tank either with a product or live rock. Either of those take time to recover from. There are other brands of chemicals i'm sure but I know nothing about them.

Those snails have been known to hide for almost a month! Then, if/when they do die, it will take you by suprise because you have stopped checking!

I had all the same issues you guys have had so what i did is raised my skimmer and solved the overflow problem. A couple days later after the skimmer settled down i put it back to normal. hth

I tried to tell them that back a couple pages ago! Lol I've used Cemi-clean/ultra life red slime numerous times and all I do is raise my skimmer and or add a ball valve onto the air intake of the skimmer.
Works like a charm every time! [emoji12]

If your skimmer is already on a stand that might be a little difficult lol[emoji30] I wouldn't use it again bottom line.

Not really and it's way less difficult then wet skimming all night :).... like I said if that's not an option putting a ball valve on the air intake will normally do it.
ice used this method in the past use close to double the recommended dose. Cyano is a MOT#€Fu [×ER

I raised it by letting it sit on my carbon bag and I also dosed like double the dose and a couple days dosed again with no ill effects but the akimmer issue that o solved by raising it.

I have done back to back treatments using 17 scoops for each treatment in 120 gallons of water with no problems. Surface agitation, and fresh air in the house is important, in my opinion.

The best way to remove chemi-clean (if it hasn't already been mentioned) is to let your skimmer overfill, but direct the drain line directly into a bag of carbon, sitting dry in the sump. I normally just use the carbon inserts designed for HOB filters. My skimmer has always returned back to normal by the next morning.

Every Spring my tank develops cyano and if I leave it it will go away on it's own, usually in a month or two. Instead of waiting I treat the tank with chemiclean to speed up the process and it's gone in a week. To get my skimmer to quickly function normal I run the drain hose into a bucket from the collection cup and as it's filling the bucket I add freshly mixed water to the sump. After about 15 - 20 min. of adding water and adjusting the skimmer it functions like normal again.

I had a small amount of cyano a week or two after I spilled my auto feeder. I treated my tank with 9 little spoons of ChemiClean and the cyano went away. I should of done 7 spoons as I didn't take in account my rock.

My conch snail has doug himself in the sand and doesn't want to come up. I checked last night he's still alive. I have done a multiple water changes, large carbon bags, polly filters.
The skimmer is going crazy and I can't run it. The last water change I did, I had the skimmer water drain out in to the water change bucket, I guess I need to do this more? Man, this is a pain in the xxx.

Just rung your skimmer waste into a filter sock until bubbles clear up.

Actually I would use Chemi Clean again and have a few times since my original post. Stuff works great!
If you pull the water out via the skimmer you can have it skimming working correctly the same day.
