I recently dosed this for an assumed spirulina infestation. It's about 44 hours later and a large majority of the stuff is gone which is great. Some of the thicker mats survived. How soon can I re-dose and do I dose a lesser amount?

Since dosing my DT has a ton of microbubbles and I can't really figure out where they are coming from. My skimmer isn't going crazy which makes me think my skimmer is broken. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of doing a 3-day blackout as a 1-2 punch to this stuff.

If it were me, I would give it at least a week or two between dosings. I have only dosed it for Cyano with excellent success each time. I always let my skimmer just overflow and then when treatment was done I did a massive water change. usually took a few days for the skimmer to settle down. when I did this, I did get some extra microbubbles in the water but I considered this a sign the water is not oxygen depleted.

Thanks. So one of the problems is that my skimmer isn't really bubbling at all, definitely not overflowing.

@twilliard told me during a VIP conversation I had this afternoon the following

Quote) I have heard a lot about this approach but biologically does not make sense to me as this added bacteria does nothing directly against the cells of cyanobacteria.
I also firmly believe that companies do not understand there are different families of bacteriums.
For instance chemiclean does nothing against cylindrospermum but it does stop spirulina (which is a cyanobacteria )
When adding bacteria to the tank there is hopes of utilizing the available food source. Which I agree would be affective against spirulina but I disagree it would be effective against cylindrospermum.
Cylindrospermum is adaptive to its environment. This is how it has survived since the beginning of time.
So would I believe it works?
Depends on the species involved.(end Quote.

I would have siphoned as much as you could b4 treatment

Cool. I would definitely say it worked. Wiped out 95% of the red stuff and it was everywhere. Just have to get that last 5%.

My experience with chemiclean is that it keeps working for another week or two, so I would wait a couple of weeks before dosing it again.
