So I dosed some boyd's and let it do its magic for 48 hrs. With some vacuuming and increased flow, cyano is gone. I did a 20 gal water change (115-120 total system water volume). I try to turn my skimmer back on and it is going crazy with the air bubbles, causing the collection cup to overflow in a matter of seconds. (Reef Octopus) Any suggestions on getting it back to its normal skimming pattern?

I hate skimmers because of this. Adjust it so the bubbles only come to the base of the cup and adjust to your preferred level over a couple days in small increments.

I tried adjusting from one spectrum to the other. Skimmer Valve all open to completely shut. I'm thinking a few more water changes to get the additive out?

My skimmer did the same thing. I did the 20 per water change and ran some extra carbon and it took about 3 days for my skimmer to act normally.

place a small bowl under the skimmer for a day or two. Raising the skimmer will allow it to help skim whatever is left. This will allow the skimmer to calm down and remove the various proteins. Running carbon can help speed up the process. Good luck. You should be back to normal in a few days.

same thing happened last week to me with a SRO3000 Reef Octopus- I attached bucket to the collection pump drain and changed over 6 bucket because of the overflow-
you just have to give it time to get out of the system
