Chemiclean while out of town?

Hi all

180 dt, 260 system. Pretty heavy green turf algae and cuanobacteria issue right now. On day 10 of fluxRX for the green turf, doing WC for that On Saturday. Thinking about doing a chemiclean treatment Wednesday-Friday while at in laws for thanksgiving, so I can do a big scrub, siphon and WC on Saturday and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Would add an airstone, and keep skimmer going but without the cup while I did it.

Am I being foolhardy doing a chemiclean treatment 'unseen'? Anyone see an issue as described?

Also- I keep seeing reference to chemcean not helping with Cyanobacteria, only spirulina. Weird, because I did a chemiclean treatment on a h2o2 reactive red slime (in cup, turned green, released red pigment into water) 6 months ago and it worked great. Any truth to that?

Yeah, decided to change plans and I'm going to keep the chemicleam for next week.

Going to do a 3 hour round trip on Friday to top off QT tanks, feed, check etc, and do the big fluxRX scrub and WC on Monday instead. Then dose chemiclean a few days before my regular 15% wc on the following Monday. Slow and steady, right?

Did you do a particular ratio of sample to h2o2?
Because both typical cyano (oscillatoria-like) and red/brown spirulina contain the same pink pigment (phycoerythrin), and are susceptible to peroxide.
I assume twilliard's protocol distinguished the two strains of cyano (yes, spirulina is a type of cyano) by how much peroxide it took to release the pigment from the cells. I haven't confirmed this or seen it confirmed by anyone else.

If chemiclean really doesn't work on spirulina but does on oscillatoria, that would be super interesting. No idea if it's true though, and it seems unlikely that the two strains of cyano are different enough for that to be the case.
