Similar experience here too. But even after a 20% water change and new carbon my skimmer still overflows like a volcano.
I just added a half bottle (900 gallon treatment) to my 450 gallon system. I treat once or twice a year and have to dump the collection cup until I do a 20G (5%) WC. It will overflow until I change out enough water to make it happy. Instead of doing a WC, I recommend letting the skimmer pull the chemiclean and do the WC for you.

Thats what I’m experiencing right now I did 2 water changes and still over flowing did you find out how to fix that issue

Open the skimmer as low as the water will go in the skimmer. Let it blow its top and dump the collection cup as long as it takes. It will stop foaming over after you skim out the chemiclean. Just keep dumping the collection cup and replacing the water with fresh...

Ok thank you

Put something under the skimmer to raise it up (like pvc and/or eggcrate) put it in like 4 or 5 inches of water. Once it starts skimming a while it pulls the rest of the chemiclean out really fast (a day or less), then you should be able to run it at normal height.

Thanks. Good suggestion.

I just added Chemiclean this morning because I get an outbreak of Cyano around this time every year. If I wait it out it will eventually disappear, but the Chemiclean gets rid of it much sooner.

This is exactly what I do. After the water change I start by running GAC the day before to pull out as much as possible. The next day I dump the skimmate as it fills and add freshly mixed water and continue until the skimmer operates like normal, usually around 15-20 min.

I had very mixed experience with Chemiclean. It destroyed my cyano but it also did significant harm to my corals - lost my zoas, lps and sps showed a ton of tissue loss and bleaching. I've read several testimonials that it did no harm and several that it wiped the tank - anyone using it should be aware of the possibility.

Did you use an alternative oxygen source throughout treatment?

I just leave my skimmer running, open it up all the way and deal with the micro bubbles for a day. I figure the micro bubbles help with oxygenation.
Same. I also face the return spout up towards the water surface to agitate the water for better aeration.

Maybe you added more then your suppose to ? All the reviews I read everyone’s live stock didn’t get harm

I use chemiclean and do a 3 day black out twice a year regardless. (Both at the same time)

I always run carbon immediately after the 3 days.

Never had an issue.

I personally believe any reported losses of livestock have nothing to do with chemiclean if used correctly.
