The last time I ran copper in QT, I added carbon to start the removal process, however it did not even remove a little of it. It was a few months old, so I chalked it up to that. Fast forward to know. I have fish in QT going on 5 weeks, 4 with copper. I bought new chemipure and put in in my HOB. That was 5 days ago. I also have been doing 5 -10 gallon water changes every day to help with the removal of the copper. After two water changes and running the carbon, the levels are 1PPM (they were 2PPM for the 4 weeks).

Using a HOB to remove copper is a very inefficient way of doing so, unless you are using a pad (ex. polyfilter) that the water can't get around.

When you place carbon (or Chemipure) in a media bag, most of the water just goes around it. You have to use it in a reactor which forces water through it.
