I don't have a phosphate issue, but am curious what the best option to run 24/7 would be. The elite or the blue. I am leaning towards the blue due to no gfo, but since they read as different yet similar products, I need guidance from the more knowledgeable folks.

Blue is basically Purigen+ROX 0.8 carbon. It will not do anything for phosphates in saltwater. Elite is Carbon+GFO and will lower phosphate. Both are convenient but can be make via a DIY method for much cheaper if buying more than just a small amount.

How do you make these yourself?

Elite = bituminous carbon + gfo and blue = rox carbon + purigen. You can even combine all three but purigen lasts for a long time as imo it doesn't really do much especially in saltwater and carbon already does the same thing and more.
