Chemipure Elite vs refugium

I'm confused here guys. Does Chemipure Elite do essentially the same thing as running a 'fuge as far as ridding the phosphate issues? Do people run this stuff in lieu of a 'fuge and carbon?

Was getting ready to do a HOB 'fuge, but this may change my mind.

Nothing beats a refugium, I run high nutrient predator tanks with refugiums, I only do water changes to refresh my elements, phosphate and nitrtate as close to zero as you can get.

Yes, running skimmer and light with LED's. Gonna put chaeto and some bio media in the bottom instead of the live sand I believe.

So, I used to run Chemipurel Elite AND Grape Calurpa on a small 14 gallon biocube...very little algae issues, I did have brown algae (maybe diatoms) all over the sand for a while. I think in the end its a balancing act. Not only nutrient export methods but also clean up crew. Who do you anticipate ridding your tank of nuisance algae...
Side note: My newer system has very little chemical media in it (a small amount of Sea Gel in a mesh bag, sitting in 1st compartment of sump with skimmer. 2nd section has a small refugium with a 2-3 inch sand bed and a ton of Ulva and Chaeto. This seems to be reducing GHA in DT. Tank is 48 bowfront with barebottom (starboard) with 8 watt advantage UV. Running too short for me to say this is working but my nitrates are 5-10..and the algae in the refugium is definitely growing (I do like that it seems more natural than chem media) I've also carbon dosed to reduce N/P in a previous system but that ended up killing all of the macro but kept N/P great, but coral growth was terrible.
New method with little chem media and refugium is working for me now...

I just run a refugium and carbon (plus a filter sock). I used flux rx in the past to deal with hair algae before I started dosing chaetogro

Yes I do run skimmers in all my tanks.

For a hob size fuge it is perfect. It is working very well. I've also run 6500k par38 bulbs with good results. I have another fuge running a 50w led grow light that I found on amazon.

My favorite macros are caulerpa and ulva.
