Chemtainer water storage for mixing station

Hey Guys,
Disclaimer, i'm new to the hobby and thought i was doing the right it.. but, I'm pretty sure i screwed up! I before receiving my 100.3 reef tank i built up my mixing station. i purchased two Chemtainer 55 gallon vertical tanks (https://www.ntotank.com/55gallon-chemtainer-black-vertical-water-tank-x5253095). one for RO/DI water and the other for Salt. I've been using them now for about three months. I just noticed some white gunk floating around inside the Salt tank. i started to look around in the tank and spotted the calking type seal around the top of the lid drooping. i peeled out all i could be there is still particles floating in the salt mixing tank.

I'm scared to use the salt water now... should i be worried?

Odd...they're rated for potable water and meets FDA requirements.

So, no...any doubts on quality of water would cause me some concern. But, is the water stagnant or do you have power head. Some salt mixes can have a temporary film/debris/not clear situation that power head can remove. You cant just test it, because we can't see what we're not testing for.

Second, I would call the manufacturer (usually industrial supply companies are excellent as providing information) explain what you're doing and see if that gasket is an issue or defect.

Someone may have experience with this exact model which I of course will defer to.

I meant "Can't just test it". As if it's the gasket, no telling what that could be adding to water.

I just called Chemtainer and they said it should just be normal silicon and should not disintegrate due to salt water being in the tank. they also said they sell tons of these tanks for saltwater storage and no issue thus far.

so my question is.... will small particles of silicone harm my fish, invertebrates and corals?
if so, i'll drain the entire 55 gallons of mixed salt and start over.
