Even if it’s the same, as stupid as it is names and lineage matter. It’s kind of like that pearlberry thread going where as they grow out some got vertical strips on the corallites so everybody wants to know exactly where it came from.

Yes to some it matters. They like the specific "brand" for one reason or another (and the high price tag that goes with it). We can't all be Jason Fox.

But hey if someone wants to pay $250 more to get the same coral with a different name, that’s up to them.

The cherry bomb was imported by tgc and the colony was sold to cornel g which was the original person to sell it. I bought my frag pictured in August 2016. I was one of the first people to get a frag and now the rest of the hobby has caught up to it so they think it's new but calling it tgc is technically right since cornel g doesn't sell coral full time. There is only one cherry bomb.

Right, though as with almost all corals, there are identical corals that turn up eventually. But those wouldn't be from the "original" TGC Cherry Bomb mother.

Then they shouldn't call it the TGC cherry bomb. If they do, then they are just scamming people. @Pirates.Reef is who I bought my frag from.

Do you have an updated picture of your frag or I assume its a colony now

Here is another frag from him with the blue lights on. With blue lights is where you see the blue tips people post. It is the frag on the RIGHT.

Thanks for explaining the backstory on this coral. I got a couple frags from my buddy and he told me it was the “cg cherry bomb”. We had no idea what cg stood for.

Heres how they look hnder my t5s. It glows hot pink under whites and blues.
