A few weeks ago I performed an experiment on a fresh shipment of bali acropora. I am so pleased with the results that I have decided that all of our acro's will be put through this process. This includes our current stock and new stock.

Sadly all of the acro's put through the following process don't make it, I experienced a few losses but I feel its worth it.

Under no circumstances should anyone forego their normal dipping/prevention efforts. DIP no matter what!

Cherry Corals "reculturing" involves the following steps.

Step 1: acclimate to our tank water in poly tubs.

Step 2: Remove the culture bases or any dead skeleton from the acro's. This leaves us with just healthy acro's with no base rock or dead skeleton to harbor flatworms eggs.

Step 3: Mount to Alternative Reef large frag plugs and return to poly tubs.

Step 4: Dose poly tub with levamisole to kill flatworms and redbugs(if any are present). Do not try this at home, an overdose of levamisole will kill everything including coral.

Step 5: Hold coral for 3-4 weeks for recovery.

Step 6: Post pics of awesome pest free acropora!!

For those who don't like the plugs just pop them off and re mount. Having the acro's on plugs allow us to safely manage our stock and ship using our patent pending "coral safe's".

Check it!

In the photo below note that the acropora has already begun to encrust onto the plug. Also note the absence of bite marks or pretty little red bugs.

Very nice Todd. I love it! Nice to see vendors taking the extra precautions to help with some of these pests. Nothing will ever eradicate them fully from the hobby, but it's nice to know when we order from you, they will be pest free. That's big considering the number of beautiful wild pieces coming in these days.

And that acro in pic#6 is insane!! Thanks for sharing.

Kudos to CC for taking the necessary steps to prevent bugs and flatworms before they go up for sale! Job well done fellas!

Couldn't agree with craigs statement any more... There is already tons of people leaving the hobby for obvious reasons but a lot have left do to these pests.. I for one would leave if it happened to me it would be to devastating :( I take every precaution known to man but there is still always a chance...:( cheers..."klink"

Here are some more "re cultured" pieces. These are only 3 weeks old, imagine how good they will be in a few months!!!

What kind of lights are all those taken under??? Crazy looking blue reflection but looks super clean and crisp...Almost looks like there is reflection or light source from the bottom.... Pretty cool...;)

Radium 20k and 4 ATI blue plus.

The acro's are on a brand new white egg crate shelf and those ATI blue plus really make my day :) Not a difficult spectrum to replicate at all and I'll take pics of some other goodies through the glass in this tank as well.

Nice.... The pictures just look really cool like there's a light under them... I was thinking a mirror or something haha... That would prolly make for some wicked shots..:xd:

Those are awesome, I will definitely be buying these when they are for Sale
:dribble:

out o curiosity, did all the corals that you did this to make it through the process?

received everything today and the health and shipping was fantastic. The method of shipping for the SPS was awesome! I had them dipped and completely clean.

The Scoly looks way better than it was in the pics ... glad I picked it up.

Thanks Cherry Corals.
