Hi all

Just curious if anyone knows of any shrimp that breed in a reef aquarium similar to freshwater cherry shrimp?

Is there any reason people don't keep Opae Ula in reefs?

Most (if not all) saltwater shrimp don't have benthic larvae like cherry shrimp do. It's far more cost effective to just have eggs and release the larvae into the ocean. However, breeding saltwater shrimp is still super interesting, it just takes a lot more work than chucking food in and keeping the parameters stable.

Opae'Ula are just...too edible to keep in a reef tank. And their larvae are also pelagic, so you won't get any population increases either. Oh, and they really just prefer low flow, since they live in anchialine ponds and not the ocean.
