I have a chevron tang that lost some flesh on his face the day I received him into QT. It looked like an outer layer of skin that peeled off (was in the shipping bag). I thought he would heal but he hasn't seemed to make any improvement in the last month. I began soaking food in silicon, is there anything else I can do? Anyone had success healing this?

No carbon, but he started loosing skin in the shipping bag while he was being temp acclimated. I first thought he had a rough ride on the ups truck

Was he ever exposed to copper?

Do you have photos of the fish?

Couple quick iPhone pics

Looks more like an injury to me. Any other symptoms? Any spots? Heavy breathing? Swimming in to powerheads? Hiding from light? Flashing or scratching?

I can't ever think of a time I discovered anything other than the most minor and nearly unnoticeable HLLE on a bristletooth tang...

Hard to say from the photos. Have you seen him rubbing his face on anything?

No spots no hiding no scratching. Recognized me as the food guy within 48 hrs of being in observation tank and always came to front of tank when I was in qt room. I originally thought injury from shipping but it hasn't changed in a month

Below is a photo of a Chevron I had with pretty bad HLLE (got him this way), for comparison purposes.

@Humblefish were you able to reverse that chevron's hlle?

I got him specifically to test miracle mud's ability to reverse HLLE (rumor I heard). However, he turned into a monster, and started fighting with every single fish I had in that system so I had to rehome him before any real progress was made. :(

To me the comparison pictures look very similar. The skin pealing off in the acclimation bucket is strange though. Did you ever run him through antibiotics for it? How did you treat him in QT... Meaning were any meds used, if so what, and how often/much did you do?

Would it be correct to say that they missing patches look like they got a bit worse from the time he was in QT to now?
