Chewed up and spit out

Do fish still get nutrition from food that is chewed up and spit back out? I have a citron goby in qt who is very interested in food, but everything I feed she chews up and spits back out. I thought maybe it was because the food is medicated with gc, but I tried some mysis soaked with garlic and she does the same thing. There are little poops on the bottom of the tank so I know she is eating something. Should I be concerned?

My guys do the same when the piece is too big ... they kinda chew on it that way and filter the small particles from the chewing
