Let me know what you find to be a good LFS resource. Kind of being your neighbor, I am always interested in a good spot to go for reef stuff.

I have a feeling those selling coral from home will be our best bet for frags.

Beyond the Reef has some decent stuff but they also have some aptasia, which they are working on, in their coral tanks. So, I would qt if you buy from them. They do have a decent selection of torches right now at ok prices. I buy my food and some supplies from here.

Booyah's Reef can be found on Facebook. Mitch is in Algonquin and breeds clownfish in his home. He has loads of varieties. Including some of the hottest morphs right now. Look him up on Facebook. Very cool place to stop at, imo. The buckshot clowns and blackhawk picasso clowns are nice;)

There's a lot going on in the area that I had no idea about. I'm only a little more than 4 months into my reef tank, so just waiting on things to settle down a bit in my system before I add more corals to it.

Aiptasia is something I just started ridding my tank of with a peppermint shrimp.

Now I am trying to get through some ick issues on one of my fish. I can't catch him to do a fresh water dip or quarantine. Plus since he is my favorite, I don't want to make a mistake and kill him. I may do a service call to have someone help me.

So I finally have the time scheduled to do my Chicago LFS tour and its looking like the weekend of July 17th. First questions, are LFS open in Chicago land with the coronavirus deal?

Second, I'm mostly interested in high end FISH where should I go?

thanks!!

Sho-tanks and also reef geeks of chicago

Both of them don’t have high end fish.... If you lucky you might be able to find something in Gingerbread, Aquapros or Mermaid. Good luck

My go to’s in the Chicago land area (kinda) lol are:

Blue Line Coral
And Gingerbread Tropical fish and coral

both located in Naperville! I drive 20+ miles to visit both of these LFS! Both have great selections!

Does anyone go to Seven Seas just north of Chicago? We’ve had good luck with. The owner sold but was wonderful to us! We got a vlamingi and unicorn tang the day after Christmas.

Beyond The Reef
Seven Sea's Aquatic Life

Once in the while i see very rare fish priced right at Aquatica in Tinley Park.

Beyond the reef is good. But I haven't been there since February. They recently remodeled and I'm heading there this Saturday.

Going to head to Blue Line and Gingerbread next Saturday.

If you have Never Been to a Frag Swap Before Check out this Video from a previous CMAS (Chicago Marine Aquarium Society) Frag Swap to get an idea of all the fun that you will have. :)

Vendors from around the country come to sell coral (much of which are the amazing brightly colored corals that you see online).

It is also a great way to meet old friends and make new friends that are in the hobby.

You will find the hottest Zoanthids, Acros, Acans, Chalices, Mushrooms, etc. all at great prices!
Old forum but do they still have this?
