Occasionally I will have a fish disappear. This guy came in about a year ago on some rock. I come up with chicoreus in my search. Could this be the culprit?

It seems that there are hundreds of varieties - I'm sure they may eat dead fish? I guess I could see one of them eating a 'sleeping' fish. But - it's my understanding that they mostly eat other invertebrates.

Yes this snail will raise havoc and Not recommended in any reef tank. Known in trade as Murex snail, they drill into shells of all snails and crabs and even feed off mucus of corals taking a tank down quickly.
People buy them because of their cool shells not realizing what comes next
