I have two tanks. I have a mag drive pushing water through a Current 1/3 chiller. I hear the condensor turn on but the temperature does not drop much 82 to 79 in two hours I think. I just bought this unit used and am thinking maybe it needs service. Also this thing blows so much hot air in my small place that it is quickly raising the ambient temps. Where could I take this for service?

The other 70 has an MJ1200 pushing water through a JBJ Artica 1/10 Chiller. I know it is not big enough but I have it so I thought I would work it. Seems to be doing just as well as the other 1/3. I will probably take this to JBJ for service as they are near me. But maybe my expectations are too high. I cleaned this unit last year (mostly removing dust from the interior).

Are there other things I can do to DIY service on these units? There is a freon product made for DIY for cars. Anyone use this for other applications like chillers?

I am not sure how old the units are.

I don't know anything about the Current chiller .... but with my Teco 1/3 hp, it would only run for maybe 20 minutes at a time to drop the temp two degrees in a 180 gallon tank..... so it sounds like you might need some service. I would think that an a/c repairman or fridge repairman would be able to help.

Just in case, have you cleaned the filters and condenser? Are you possibly pushing too much flow thru the unit?

My Delta Star does the same, runs about 20 minutes to drop two degrees. How big is the swing you are trying to manage. Try lowering it to a 81 turn on to cool to 79. Just a thought. Most HVAC folks will give it a go. Especially if you make a purchase. I bought a gross of filters off a fellow down the street and he recharged mine for the cost of coolant. Mine was also used and now works quite well.

The heat up the room part is a fact of life. One of my main reasons for moving the sump and gear to the basement. Wa a pain in the butt but well worth it. No more hot air.

Have a Great Night
