I live in an old apartment in WV. I want to get a tank again. I sold mine to move out here for graduate school. Of course, I am itching to get small tank (<10 gallons).
My house temperature is the problem. In the summer, at times, my place gets up to mid to high 80's while I am not home. In the winter it will get down to 60 at night.
I am not really worried about heating the tank but cooling it is what worries me and is pretty much my road block. I have looked in to the mini chillers and am wondering what other people have done?

Pictures are of one of my old nanos.

A small fan blowing across top of the tank will drop temperature pretty effectively however you will get a lot of evaporation so a ATO is essential.

Such a small tank, if me I'd rig up a wine chiller, maybe two, for what they cost.
Wine chiller I'm describing for a bottle not a frig

Yeah. I have the same tank and was looking into chillers. I live in SoCal, so our summers are pretty darn hot. Having a small fan blow across the surface replaced the need for a $200-300 chiller.

Without it, my tank was raising to 85/86 and it was kept at 81 with fan. Again, not the most ideal temperature but your reef will be more than fine.
