There is someone selling a bunch of aquariums, skimmers, tanks/stands, lights, etc from storage. They list a 1/4 hp chiller and say it might just need to be recharged. Do chillers just need recharge or once they are not chilling, they are dead? It seems like a heck of a deal without the chiller but that item could be the factor in me buying the whole lot or not. I figure I can easily break even and get a couple things for myself but don't want the hassle if I can't make at least a little profit.

And your bonus Question of the day...name this chiller!

If the chiller needs recharged there is a leak. Depending on where the leak is and the age of the copper, i would stay away from it. When you buy something broken, there is a reason why they didnt fix it.

I agree. I asked an AC guy if he could do some maintenance on my chiller like a recharge and he said if I have to do anything but clean the air filter then trash it.
