Chiller

I live in Phoenix and just purchased aquarium chiller with external pump. I have option running pump inside the tank or externally. I don't have a sump, I run canister filter with hang on protein skimmer. Any lessons learned or thoughts on running chillers and pump placement?

Just make sure the pump and fittings don't leak and the intake tube is screened off
