i got a chiller for free, the thing is it does not work. the guy i got it from didnt say why or how its broke. i was wondering if anyone knows anything about chillers and has any advice on what could be wrong with it.

Hey what type of chiller? inline or drop in. do you know the brand name aqualogic,tradewind i've got a lot of experience w/ these. hope i can help

i believe it is an inline chiller (sorry no experience with chillers) and there is no decals or name on it only a sticker with a model number

there is a lot that could go wrong but most of the time it is an inexpensive solenoid

When you plug it in do you hear the compressor kick on? Could just need a tune-up its kinda hard to diagnose it without a little more detail. Make sure you clean the coils and stuff. I bought one for 10 bucks from my LFS they said it didnt work I came home cleaned all the salt creep out and went to home depot and bought coil cleaner and cleaned it all up and now it works better than ever.
